Boy Who Cried Wolf

With election over, I believe that those elected or not should put aside their political differences and work together for the benefit of the people who voted for them. After all, we vowed to be with the people and it was the voters who made their decision to choose their representatives.

Whatever differences we may have, I firmly believed that the people who voted us in deserve the best. Whatever the people’s decision, it has been made and it is for both the political divide representatives to help and care for them.

It was distressing to know that Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who in his public utterances, claimed to have the people in his heart, to look down on the DAP. When my comrade, Chong Chieng Jen, asked him for the plan of the proposed Health Metropolis recently so that our party can help pushed forward the project, Dr. Sim had jeered in a Chinese press statement, that he wonders and thus challenged, if DAP has the ability to implement it.

People should come first and if the project is good for them, DAP is more than willing to push for the government to turn it into a reality- unless what Dr. Sim was harping about on the Health Metropolis was just a gimmick to fish for votes in the first place during the election campaign. If he is sincere, then he can pass the plan to us as there is no harm for the DAP to push the project ahead for the people. I hope that the proposed plan is not sitting in his cabinet collecting dust.

And on another note, I hope that Dr. Sim will stop feeling sorry for himself about having no job. He has made several statements after the election through the media he is going to this country and that country doing consultation work. He appeared to be busy globe-trotting and that did not sound like a man with no job.

Even Penang Chief Minister, YAB Lim Guan Eng offered him a job in the Penang if the State Government did not want to hire him. The door of Penang is wide open and I think there will come a time when one really has to stop moaning trying to get people’s sympathy. Once or twice is enough and if it happens too many times, it does sound like the boy who cried wolf.

Meanwhile, on another issue, I hope that the authority concern would hasten up the job of repairing the road along Jalan Setia Raja. Due to the laying of underground piping work, certain portion of the road was left un-tarred.

With heavy traffic along the stretch of road, I hoped that the JKR would be considerate to ensure that the road is repaired as it is a nightmare for road users to drive along a road filled with potholes.

It also posed a danger to road users as at night with not enough street lightings, it would posed to be a danger for motorcyclists.

The authority should not sit on the problem to wait for an accident to happen.
